Classic jewellery craftsmanship in contemporary designs revealed

By Shereen Shabnam

One of my favourite designer and client has to be Sarah Abudawood, the founder of Yataghan. Inspired by art, architecture and the jewellery needs ofthe powerful, glamorous and beautiful women of the region, Sarah introduces traditionally classic and timeless pieces of contemporary wearable art that sets its own new trend in the fashion industry.

As Creator and Head Designer at Yataghan Fine Jewellery since 2006, Sarah fuses design elements that are inspired by the natural world, architecture and Arabic influenced antiquity to present a modern yet culturally diverse voice in a singular authentic expression.

Under the creative direction of Sarah, the collection has evolved with delicate yet seductive pieces that bring out the confidence and sensuality of the wearer. The elegant collection celebrates individuality and reminds women of their feminine strength.

Sarah mentions that her clients like to regularly redefine their look to make a statement with unique timeless pieces, custom-made designs and personal gem selection that truly reflects their unique taste and sense of individuality. That is indeed true.

For my daughters 16thbirthday, my first choice for a present was the first letter of her name in Arabic. Sarah meticulously designed the letter with a drop of diamond into her earnings and that is a special piece of jewellery she will treasure forever.

Heritage, culture and traditions of the Arab world with international trends serves as Sarah’s playground as each piece reflects the modernization of traditional designs cleverly crafted with meanings that go beyond words, shapes and colours – each piece is spiritual and bespoke to suit the wearer’s personality.

Yataghan’s distinct statement pieces are exclusively handcrafted by Sarah Abudawood and available on instagram @myyataghan
